Computable Training - Bookkeeping Course

Are you taking your first step into bookkeeping or currently working in the industry? - Then this is the course for YOU!

Obtain a Nationally Recognised Accounting and Payroll Qualification and become an Accredited Bookkeeper. The Certificate IV Financial Services (Bookkeeping) FNS40207 qualification is the minimum educational requirement to become a BAS Agent. The course is suitable for students who wish to establish a career in the bookkeeping industry or existing bookkeepers who would like recognition through a formal qualification.

Who Should Enrol

For employers

  • staff responsible for keeping the accounts of the business, specifically those completing Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • ensure your accounts staff have the minimum qualification for Registered BAS Agents
  • ensure qualified staff members are handle your accounting records
  • who have staff who may qualify as New Entrant and/or Existing Worker Trainees

For employees / consultants

  • Registered Tax Agents are now required to obtain the Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) to be allowed to provide Business Activity Statement (BAS) services to a client and become a Registered BAS Agent
  • who are working for an organisation and complete Business Activity Statements (BASs) on behalf of their employer
  • aspire to working as a Registered BAS Agent in the future and will require this qualification

Course Covers:

You will finish the course with workplace skills and knowledge to:

  • Perform the bookkeeping function for business using MYOB Accounting software
  • Administer the functions of payroll, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger and financial report preparation
  • Ensure you and your clients are compliant with all relevant legislation
  • Meet the pre-requisite for registration as a BAS Service Provider with the Tax Practitioners Board

Case Study

Unique in-house developed fully integrated case study for this course.

All students must complete 13 of the above units – all of the Core Units, all of the Sectoral Core Units and two of the elective units. All students must also complete the Case Study. All of the Sectoral Units are conducted using MYOB Accounting Software – learn MYOB while gaining a nationally recognized qualification. This course is conducted in partnership with Prestige Service Training (RTO No. 31981).

Delivery Method

This course is delivered in combination of self-paced and classroom sessions:

The first 4 units - Self Paced

The student will receive the course material for a unit and when it is completed and assessed, they will receive the next unit. The students will have contact with the trainer via email and phone. The trainer will have a one-on-one with the student at the commencement of the training.

Sectoral Core Units - Classroom

8 full days training held over 14 weeks. The assessment for these units will be conducted in the class at the end of each unit.

  • Day 2: Cash Accounting
  • Day 3: Accrual Accounting
  • Day 4: Inventory & Asset Management
  • Day 5: Payroll
  • Day 6: Financial Statements
  • Day 7: BAS & Lodging Tax
  • Day 8: Policies & Procedures

Two Elective units - Self Paced

The student will receive the course material for a unit and when it is completed and assessed, they will receive the next unit. The students will have contact with the trainer via email and phone. The trainer will have a one-on-one with the student at the commencement of this part of the training.

Fees and Payment

The complete course fee $3,500.

Government trainee completion incentives may apply to offset this fee. Available incentives include:

  • Federal government trainee incentive - up to $4,000 (see incentive details below)
  • Qld government contribution of $725 - credited off course fee (paid via the Registered Training Organisation)

Federal Government Trainee Incentive

A Government trainee incentive is available for employers who have staff who fulfill the necessary criteria and are attending the course. The basis of the criteria for trainees is as follows:

  • The trainee must be a full time or permanent part time employee working a minimum of 15 hours per week.
  • The trainee has not completed a qualification in the last 7 years.

The Government will pay up to $4,000 per trainee who completes this course. This is paid to the employer as follows:

  • $1,500 paid on 3 months after commencement of training
  • $2,500 paid on the completion of the course and assessment

CTS Training Payment Terms for those receiving Government Incentive:

  • $1,000 deposit at time of enrolment
  • $1,500 on 3 months after commencement of training
  • Balance on completion

Payment terms are available for those not covered by the Government Incentive

An additional administration fee of $110 is applicable if using our payment terms.
